History (Origins)

The production of incense sticks was started in the first year of the Genroku era (1864) by Adachi Shigeshichi in Nikko City.

Characteristics (Techniques and Materials)

These incense sticks are mainly made from natural aromatic woods and other trees, buds, leaves, roots, and other medicinal herbs. The natural and gentle incense is produced by adjusting the fragrance according to the season and weather, and carefully working to ensure that the fragrance remains consistent.
