History (Origins)

This style flourished from the Bunka-Bunsei Eras (1804–29) through to the Tempo Era (1830–44) as Moka-sarashi (Moka bleached cotton).

Characteristics (Techniques and Materials)

Everything from cotton growing to thread-spinning, dyeing, and weaving is carried out by hand.
The result is durable, high-quality cotton material with a delightfully simple texture.
