History (Origins)

These barrels represent the continuance of soy-sauce-barrel production techniques used since the Edo Period (1600–1868) in present-day Noda City, Chiba Prefecture.

Characteristics (Techniques and Materials)

Japanese-cedar materials originating from Tochigi Prefecture serve as the primary material, and madake bamboo grown in Tochigi City is used to make the barrels' hoops, resulting in well-sealed, highly useful barrel products.
